Brian J. Young – Forest Hill, MD

Brian has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare and finance industries, with a focus on providing financial consulting and turnaround services to healthcare companies and advisory services to commercial lenders. His experience includes due diligence and field exams procedures, restructuring plans, viability assessments, healthcare receivables collection, crisis management, interim financial management, liquidation services, financial statement and forecast preparation, and business plan development. Before starting BY&S’s predecessor firm in 2001, Brian held various management roles, including Chief Operating Officer, Account Executive, and Controller, for two commercial lenders where he focused primarily on lending to troubled borrowers in the healthcare industry. Earlier in his career he also has worked for a large national nursing home chain.

Brian has his CPA (inactive) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Political Science from Grove City College. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Duke Slaughter, CPA, MBA – Charlotte, NC

Duke is a senior financial executive with over 35 years of experience in healthcare, manufacturing and service industries, with key experience in collateral and mergers and acquisitions due diligence, public offerings, debt and equity structuring and operational management. Prior to joining BY&S in 2009 he has spent 15 years in various roles in the healthcare industry including roles as consultant for healthcare due diligence, Corporate Treasury for an $800MM physician staffing company, CFO of healthcare startup companies and CFO of a company that managed risk plans for physician organizations.

Duke is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS in Accounting from Wake Forest University and a MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Amy S. Breslin, CPA – Forest Hill, MD

Amy is a senior financial executive with more than 30 years of experience in many industries including but not limited to servicing, finance, healthcare, contracting, government contracting and non-profit. Her experience includes part time and interim CFO services, turnaround management, strategic planning, negotiation and analysis of financial opportunities, process, cost, operations and personnel analysis, interim financial management, system conversions, and financial statement analysis. Amy is one of the original founders of BY&S’ predecessor firm and previously focused on non-healthcare clients before switching her sole focus to the healthcare side of the practice in 2014 where she now oversees BY&S’ healthcare CFO services product.

Amy is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BBA in Finance from George Washington University. Amy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Evan Schaller – Charlotte, NC

Evan joined BY&S in 2010 and is a finance professional with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare finance industry. He has conducted due diligence field exams, real estate exams, cash flow exams, Quality of Earning exams and has experience assisting lenders with distressed deals. Evan previously worked for Wachovia Bank prior to joining BY&S.

Evan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wingate University.

Clayton is a senior financial executive with more than 35 years of experience in many industries including 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. His healthcare experience includes cash flow and real estate due diligence, financial statement and cash flow forecast preparation and asset backed field examinations. Clayton’s previous experience includes Welltower, Inc., GE Capital Healthcare Financial Services and Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance.

Clayton graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Tulsa University.

Anthony Hope – Austin, TX

Anthony joined BY&S in 2008 and is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience in commercial finance, most of those in the healthcare industry. He has conducted field exams, both recurring and pre-loans, real estate exams, cash flow exams, and Quality of Earning exams for both healthcare clients and non-healthcare clients. Anthony has also worked in portfolio management. He has worked for First Capital Corporation, DVI and Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance.

Anthony graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Jennifer Nipper, CPA – Savannah, GA

Jennifer joined BY&S in 2014 and is a finance professional with almost 25 years of operational, financial and executive healthcare experience, specifically within skilled nursing/long-term care industry. At BY&S she has conducted field exams, both recurring and pre-loans, Quality of Earning exams, and special projects for BY&S healthcare clients. Jennifer has worked for both large public and small private healthcare companies during her career and held positions including Group Finance Manager, Area Controller, and Vice President of Finance.

Jennifer is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

John joined BY&S in 2009 and is a finance professional with over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He has conducted field exams, both recurring and pre-loans, real estate exams, cash flow exams, and Quality of Earning exams for healthcare clients. John’s previous experience includes BDO Seidman, Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance, and GE Capital Healthcare Financial Services.

John graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Professional Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Evan Watts – Winston-Salem, NC

Evan joined BY&S in January 2015 and has progressed quickly from Staff Healthcare Financial Consultant to Senior Healthcare Financial Consultant to Manager in January 2019. Evan has conducted pre-loan and recurring field examinations as well as Quality of Earnings exams for our healthcare clients. Evan is the relationship manager for several of BY&S’ clients and works on our more complex projects.

Evan began his career in tax and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Wingate University and a Masters of Science in Accounting from Appalachian State University.
